Junior Primary Choir

Junior Primary Choir

Students in Year 1 and 2 are invited to join the Junior Primary Choir, an exciting and engaging opportunity for young learners to explore music and develop their vocal skills. The choir rehearses weekly throughout Terms 1, 2, and 4, providing a fun and supportive environment for children to come together and create music as a team.

Participation in the Junior Primary Choir helps to foster a range of important skills, from teamwork and discipline to creativity and self-expression. Singing in a group setting encourages children to listen carefully to others, follow direction, and contribute to a collective goal, building their confidence and social skills along the way.

In addition to regular rehearsals, the choir performs at various school events, bringing joy and school spirit to our community. Students also have the opportunity to perform at external venues, including local aged care facilities and at Kmart during the Christmas season, where they spread festive cheer through their musical talents. These performances offer valuable experiences in public speaking and stage presence, helping children grow in confidence while also learning the importance of giving back to the community.

The value of singing for children goes beyond the fun of music itself. Studies show that singing helps improve language development, memory, and cognitive skills. It promotes emotional well-being by offering an outlet for self-expression, while also providing a sense of belonging and accomplishment. By participating in the Junior Primary Choir, students not only develop a love for music but also grow holistically in ways that support their academic and personal development.
